Turn raw footage into a finished business reel

Steps

1. 01

   Pick one job the clip has to do

   A reel is not a highlight dump. Choose one: show the work, introduce the owner, or explain how to book. Everything else waits.

2. 02

   Select three to five clips, not the whole camera roll

   Open the footage. Keep only the shots that support the one job. If a clip does not help a stranger understand your business, it does not belong.

3. 03

   Build a simple sequence

   Start with the strongest visual. Follow with context. End on the next step: call, book, visit, or message. Keep the cut tight enough to watch on a phone between tasks.

4. 04

   Add captions a person can read without sound

   Write captions in the language of the customer, not the language of marketing. Review them on a phone. If a word is wrong, fix it before export.

5. 05

   Export once, then reuse

   Export a vertical file with a still poster frame. Save the project so next week's reel starts from a working template, not a blank timeline.

Common mistakes

• Using every clip because it took time to shoot.
• Leaving captions to auto-generate without a human pass.
• Ending without a next step the customer can actually take.
